Last month's Welcome Ceremony at Madrona Highlands was truly amazing. The crowd was large, the energy was electric, and the cookies (shoutout to Kindred Kitchen!) were delicious! Community members, Elected Officials, and media from across the county joined us to celebrate.

Madrona Highlands represents years of hard work and dedication. While yesterday we focused on celebrating our business and community partners, as well as our funders, today we want to take a moment to celebrate you—our incredible staff across the agency—who made this possible.

A huge thank you to everyone who has worked on Madrona Highlands up to this point, and to those who will continue working at Madrona moving forward. Adding 52 new units of affordable housing to Snohomish County is quite an accomplishment, and it’s something we can all be proud of.

Kathryn Opina, our Senior Director, Admin & Operations at Housing Hope and a speaker at the Welcome Ceremony, had a few words to say about Madrona!

“Nothing feels better than doing a Welcoming Ceremony for new affordable units to serve our community members in need. The Madrona Highlands living community was a joy to develop, especially with partners like Edmonds Lutheran Church, the Hazel Miller Foundation as a lead funder, Kirtley Cole and Associates as our general contractor, and all our funders. The Housing Authority of Snohomish County is another critical partner in making this project work. The housing vouchers they provide for low-income units enable families to afford the rent and build their lives. We want to express our appreciation to Snohomish County and NEF for their support of funding as well.

Thank you to all our partners, friends, neighbors, and supporters for coming out to celebrate. Days like this give us energy to carry on in providing solutions to one of our County’s most complicated issues, homelessness.”

Thank you to everyone that came by and supported us at the grand reveal of our latest housing community development. We can not wait to see how Madrona Highlands changes the lives of hundred of people over the coming years. Through projects like Madrona, we can all work together to keep hope alive in Snohomish County.

A special thank you to Maria Cantwell [US Senator], Rick Larsen [US Representative], Strom Peterson [Washington State Representative], Megan Dunn [Snohomish County Councilmember], Megan Dunn [Snohomish County Councilmember], Mindy Woods [City of Edmonds Human Services Program Manager], Alicia Crank [The Hazel Miller Foundation Board Member], and Tim Oleson [Pastor Edmonds Lutheran Church] for joining us and being a part of the Madrona Welcome Ceremony! Your support and partnership means the world to us, and the people we aim to serve.
